FAQs

Q.1. Who can participate process simulation course?
Ans.: Any Chemical engineer whether diploma, degree, post graduate or PhD having background on process engineering major unit operations like distillation, heat exchanger, reactor and accessories like pump, compressor, control valve, pipe etc

Q 2. Is DWSIM used in process industry?
Ans:
DWSIM allows you to custom build an unit operation and thus overcome the absence of specialized modules. In final analysis, DWSIM has a place both in academia and industry because it is free and that means a lot when commercial simulation packages are so prohibitively expensive.

Q 3. Modeling of chemical processes using commercial and open-source software: A comparison between Aspen Plus and DWSIM
Ans:
The simulation was carried out under the steady-state conditions, adiabatic processes, and negligible pressure losses. Finally, simulation results from DWSIM and Aspen Plus were compared with the heat and mass flow diagram which was used as reference. It was found that the discrepancy between simulation and reported values was in general less than 5%. It has been demonstrated that free and open-source software like DWSIM could potentially perform similar tasks as commercial software. (Ref.
